Master's in Education - Admission Process
*Please note that although our brochure lists a January 15th priority deadline for applications, this is not a strict deadline. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis, but early inquiry is recommended.

n order to be admitted into the Mid-Atlantic Teacher Institute applicants must be accepted by both Norwood School and The George Washington University. In addition to the application materials listed below, a joint interview with GW and Norwood School will also be required. All candidates will teach a short lesson as part of the interview.

The Mid-Atlantic Teacher Institute is looking for a diverse group of men and women dedicated to becoming teachers. A bachelor's degree is a prerequisite and experience working with children is helpful. A transcript review will be conducted by GW to determine if there are any general education requirements that need to be fulfilled. Click here to review more information on these requirements.

  • Fee to GW of $60
  • GRE or Miller Analogies Test (waived if you already have a graduate degree)
  • Resume and statement of purpose
  • Official transcripts from each college attended
  • Two letters of reference
  • Writing sample
  • Statement of Purpose (make sure to refer to the Mid-Atlantic Teacher Institute in the first paragraph of your statement)
